Afri-love presents The Sundown Sessions: 3 intimate evenings of live music.
As the days get shorter, nights get chillier and London settles down and braces itself for the winter – we dream of sunny days, vibrant colours and the soulful energy that permeates every day on the African continent. The Sundown Sessions were conceived in the Afri-love spirit of highlighting the work of amazing African and diaspora creatives.
Join us and engage with inspired musicians who, will transport us to faraway lands. Each evening will feature resident artists American vocalist / lyricist Sirena Riley and Australian pianist /composer, Tom Donald fresh from their German tour. JazzWise UK Magazine have compared their songwriting tenure to Kurt Weil and Nina Simone describing their debut album as having ‘performances that enchant, surprise and ineffably capture the imagination. Riley's lyrics and Donald's music seem to flow together in a single flood of invention.’ Their songwriting partnership crosses the boundaries of jazz, classical and musical theatre, making a mysterious and lasting impression on audiences worldwide.
Tonight's Sundown Session also features multi-instrumentalist Adriano Adewale who was born in Sao Paulo‚ Brazil and moved to London in 2000. He has collaborated and shared the stage with countless world-class artists including Seb Rochford, Modeste Hughes, Zoe Rahman, Cesaria Evora, Flora Purim, Jools Holland, Seu Jorge, and Boubacar Traore.
